In Northeast Ohio, weather changes run the gamut from extreme cold to intense heat—sometimes during the course of just one day. That’s why it’s important to make sure your furnace and air conditioning units are in top shape. Regular duct cleaning, furnace filter replacement, and duct repairs are necessary to ensure your furnace is running properly and efficiently. Your air conditioner may have hoses and tubes that are worn from the winter’s snow, ice, and other elements. Different parts have different purposes. If one goes down, they all go down. BERS checks coolant levels, pressure, and force of air to ensure quality operation during the heat of summer. To be sure that both your furnace and air conditioner are in proper working order, consider scheduling a service appointment today.

Money-Saving Tips from BERS

You’ve likely heard that you should have your heating and air conditioning systems regularly serviced and maintained. But how seriously have you taken this advice? There are significant benefits to preventative maintenance that you may not have thought about.

The most important is that regular service saves you money. A properly maintained system will last longer, prevent 48% of breakdowns, and cost less to operate. A system becomes less efficient and less reliable throughout the years, which can cost you money in increased utility and repair bills.

The average household spends more than $2,210 a year on energy bills, nearly half of which goes to heating and cooling. Homeowners can save about $170 per year by installing a programmable thermostat, properly setting it, and maintaining those settings.

There is some maintenance that homeowners can undertake themselves, such as checking their air filters every month, especially during heavy use months. If the filter looks dirty after a month, change it. At a minimum, change the filter every three months. A dirty filter will slow down air flow and make the system work harder, which will cost you more to operate and will also shorten the life expectancy of your system.
